Fun October

We're having a fun month!
The weather is finally getting cooler and the leaves are starting to fall. The kids had me out raking leaves with them this afternoon to see if we could get a pile big enough to jump in. We got a little pile that Xander had a lot of fun sitting in.
Eva just lost another tooth. Before putting it under her pillow last night, she made a thank-you card for the tooth fairy - completely her idea; it was so sweet. She has been busy playing soccer, making Halloween decorations for the house, and making up plays to go with her princess Halloween costume. She has also mastered the monkey bars at school. She practiced and practiced for weeks, and she can finally make it all the way across!
At the beginning of October I went to the pumpkin patch with Aiden for a preschool field trip. There were slides and tunnels and swings and things to climb on - and pumpkins! Aiden's favorite was the big slides where you sit on a carpet square to make you go faster.
He is getting so big! He started soccer this fall and is having fun with that. He is learning to write his name at preschool and is having a great time learning and playing and making new friends.

For Columbus Day weekend we went to visit Lester and Dani and their sweet family. While we were visiting, we all went to Colonial Williamsburg, which is a restored little town from the revolutionary war times. There are actors all around dressed in period costume who tell you about the various shops and demonstrate trades (i.e. blacksmiths and dressmakers). They even had games for the children.

We were lucky that while we were at Colonial Williamsburg, there were also a bunch of revolutionary war re-enactors who were there for the weekend and we got to see and visit with them. They stayed in tents (you can see them in the background) and cooked and did everything like the people did back then
I have more pictures of Xander that I'll put in another post!
