Our Brian is growing up. I'm so proud of him. I really enjoy this kid lately - he's fun to hang out with and can always make me smile. I took a van full of kids to the movies on Saturday - it was a little crazy but we had a great time...

Good News

Hi Everyone,

As some of you know, our unborn baby girl has been breech for many weeks. If she stayed breech, I would have to have a C-section. Today, my high-risk doctor was able to turn her successfully, by "massaging" my abdomen, (so she's head-down now). It was pretty painful, but it was a lot quicker than I thought it would be. The chances of success weren't very high with a patient like me, so we are really grateful for the skill of the doctor and the good result. We feel very blessed and we are hopeful she will not turn the wrong way again (they usually don't). I'm full-term (37 weeks) on Saturday and we are amazed and so grateful to have come this far. We're very excited for the big day, whenever that will be. I will probably be induced in a couple weeks if she doesn't come before then. I hope you are all doing well. Have a great weekend!

Our Newest Addition - Xander Carl Bousquet

Hello Everyone!

Because I cannot figure out how to post on here with my account, I (Jeff) am using Suzie's account to report on the birth of Xander Carl Bousquet, and to post a few pictures. Xander was born on Monday, September 14 at 12:40 p.m. EDT. He weighed 7 lbs. 8 oz. and measured 19.5 inches in length.

As you can see, Xander and Suzie are looking great and are doing well! Suzie and Xander came home yesterday afternoon, and Mom Baker flew out last night and will be staying with us through the weekend.

I forgot that a newborn's daily schedule is basically (1) sleep, (2) eat, and (3) repeat steps (1) and (2). Not a very interactive routine for a Daddy. On the other hand, what a very special blessing it is to witness again the wondrous miracle of life entering this mortal existence, and to watch one of Heavenly Father's precious children acclimate to a physical body and experience the joys and trials that only mortality can bring. It is also so wonderful to see that bond between a mother and her newborn child. Suzie just absolutely glows, and is so happy. So, all in all, it is a very exciting time in the Bousquet household!

I am so grateful for this blog! Thank you for posting darling pictures and keeping us updated. It's fun, too, to go to your individual family blogs and find more! Although I don't write much, I want you to know how much I appreciate this - and come here often.

It's been a cozy month! I am so comfortable here in Boise - Jon and Chrissy are so fun to live with - a true joy. And school is not too hard, but the hands on hospital work is challenging - I have faith, though, that it will be OK. I figure that when I can put in an IV without the patient bleeding all over the bed, and when I can decipher doctors handwriting, then I will be a real nurse! Thank you for all your prayers.

It's so exciting to have new grandbabies coming! We are praying for you, Suzie and Aubrey, that your deliveries will be comfortable and that your babies will be healthy and happy! I am looking forward to being travelling Grandma the next few weeks - I can't wait!

Family Date

 

 

 

 

Hi Everyone,

Today we went on a lovely afternoon drive to Snoqualmie Falls, Grace called it a family date. It was nice to have a little down time together. We've had a busy week. The day after my last post, BethAnne got some pretty bad infections (incision and UTI), so we spent some time in the E.R. on Sunday evening. Luckily, Monday was a holiday which gave us some time to recover before Mark went back to work. BethAnne also got a pretty bad cold and cough right after the surgery, which I also got this week. BethAnne was pretty sick until Wednesday because we didn't have the right antibiotic for her UTI until Tuesday afternoon (it takes a couple days for the culture to come back so they have to guess on the right antibiotic until then). But, she is recovering well now. She should be able to go back to school in a few days when her incisions get a little better.

Despite everything going on, I finally started being able to get some sleep again. So, I'm feeling much better. We decided I can handle the kids on my own for awhile, so Mark's mom went home on Wednesday. We're really grateful for all her help so we could get to a safe place in the pregnancy. I'm now 35 weeks along and this baby is getting big. My tummy feels a little crowded, but that may be because she is laying sideways under my ribs instead of head down. At least my bladder has pretty good room still. We're excited to see when she will come. We had a big day yesterday getting baby clothes and gear washed and ready. Mark did most of the work because I'm still taking it easy a bit. He's so good to me. Luckily he got some rest today.

So, that's us. We hope things go really well for Suzie and her family this week. We'll be praying for you guys. We love you all.

BethAnne Update

Hi Everyone,

BethAnne's surgery went very well. The surgery took a long time, so I was worried about her recovery time, but she was actually able to leave the hospital last night. It was so nice to not have to stay in the hospital for a night. The doctor did not have to make a large incision, he was able to go in through previous scars. The results look better than we hoped for. We feel very blessed for how well it worked out. Now we hope she will recover fully without incident. Everything else is going well here. We're really looking forward to a nice quiet long weekend together. We're going to get some things ready for the new baby, just so we're ready whenever she comes. I'm 34 weeks today, so the baby will be closer to term than Grace was, so that's a fun milestone. We're looking forward to news from Virginia one of these days about a new Bousquet baby. This time they might win the race!(Grace came before Aiden even though Aiden was due a month earlier). We love you all and hope you are all well.

1st Day of School and more!

 

 

 

 

Hello Everyone! BethAnne had her first day of first grade today and we were all very excited and a little nervous (I think Mark and I were more nervous than BethAnne). BethAnne did great at school, she especially loved being able to pick what she got to eat at lunch. The cafeteria at her school offers several entree choices each day, when I was a kid I think there was only one choice every day. We spent a few days in the last week practicing the logistics of draining at school. The principal, nurse, secretary, and teacher have been very helpful and I think it will all work well.

The first two pictures are BethAnne on her first day, she wasn't wearing her glasses yet when we took the pictures, which is a shame because she's so cute in her glasses. The next picture is just a sweet picture of BethAnne with one of her favorite stuffed animals. The last picture shows some beautiful flowers the Mark sent me on our Anniversary on the 19th. We've been married 10 years now. I am so grateful to be married to such a sweet, amazing, helpful man. He works tirelessy for our family and he is so cheerful about it. He is the best daddy and husband ever and I adore him.

In other news, I'm now 33 weeks (and 3 days) along in my pregnancy. The doctor thinks we don't have to worry about preterm labor anymore (I'm actually getting concerned that this baby may try to stay in for too long). I'm not sleeping well at all, so we're grateful to have Mark's parents back to help for awhile. My blood pressure is slowly creeping up, so they are watching that closely. They will induce me if it gets too high. But it looks like we should have a close-to-term baby or even a full-term baby if things continue as they are. We are very grateful for that. Now our only concern is that the baby is still breech, we pray she will turn in time. Actually, today she was sideways (transverse), so we're hoping she's attempting to go the right way.

BethAnne will have surgery on Friday to revise the surgery she had done in June (which didn't work properly). Hopefully, it will be fairly minor, with only a day or two in the hospital. Please keep her and the surgeon in your prayers. She is such a trooper.
